Artist's Comments

Harvest, which starts in August for the mice, is dangerous business. Pacifists by nature, the mice don't have what you would consider an army to defend themselves. What they do have is a battalion of highly-trained elite Medics, strategically placed thoughout the wood, able to administer anything from first aid to minor surgery on-site.

In spite of the temptation to doze off on this gorgeous afternoon, this team watches over their nest group dutifully.

This took 15-20 hours for me to complete, and there are parts of it that I downright hate (like the dirt, and some of the fur/grass), but I persisted, and I'm done, and overall it's not too shabby

Anyone can make perfect pictures everytime with a rubber stamp or xerox machine. What it really takes to make it art is CREATIVITY, and you've got it. Adorable. The grass is good, the dirt is passable, but all the twiggy things (shrubs?) are very similar. Either they've wandered into monoculture of the same things or farm or something. I think it's time to look at a branch and draw it. Diversity. Overall, it's a wonderful picture and idea.

If you are not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
